United States Citizenship: In recent years it has been easier and cheaper to get citizenship in the U.S. than to get permanent residence. It is possible to apply for citizenship after 3 years of marriage and living legally in the United States. Brazilians retain their Brazilian citizenship and passport, and have dual citizenship.
